About

In Short

Somewhat sane, easy going but at times complex individual, driven by the beauties of life as well as the valuable times shared with my family, my friends, my dogs and anyone & everyone who I have the pleasure of connecting with.

Where I am At

My Work Experience, Literally

After my first paying job (at the age of 10) putting together bikes at Bob’s Bicycle and Lawnmower shop, I tried working at a seafood restaurant in the Lakefront area of New Orleans as a bust boy but, got totally discouraged by the stingy paycheck and decided to unite with my neighborhood friend to start my own landscaping/grass cutting business.

After the 6-year grass cutting entrepreneurship, I worked in the health care field as a personal care attendant (PCA) with individuals who had medical ailments ranging from muscular dystrophy, psychosis NOS, MS & Alzheimer’s. In addition, while attending Louisiana State University (LSU), I worked for a little over a year at veterinary clinic on the weekends.

After graduating college in 2005, I took a job as health care facilitator with the Volunteers of America where I thought I would “earn a living” for a few years at least. Unfortunately at the time, Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on the city of New Orleans, flooding (and closing) the Volunteers of America office altogether.

With my youth on my side and a wild itch to move out west, I made my way to the Bay Area of California and began doing some basic social media, affiliate and search engine marketing work on the computer (thanks to the direction of my good friend and web-colleague, Gerard Ramos). Needless to say, I took with it and ran with it and became totally addicted to the potential behind the computer screen.

While padding my own pockets with my daily (and nightly as I worked long, long hours pretty much every day of the week) online marketing/interactive media efforts, I took on some additional work with a part-time position at Wallhogs.com, spearheading their social media as well as affiliate marketing efforts across the internet.

Approximately a year after working with Wallhogs, I fell in love with the office atmosphere at Zappos.com (after visiting their corporate Las Vegas headquarters) and applied for a position in their marketing department where I worked on their affiliate and search engine marketing teams, driving traffic, sales and overall brand awareness.

In an effort to move back to California (after being in Las Vegas working with Zappos for about 1.5 years), I began pursuing more side work so that I could afford the higher cost of living that California had to offer. I managed to line up some work with a few clients that were represented by Wingman Media and, slowly but surely, weaned away from the agency to run my own marketing efforts and/or firm.

Fast forward to now and I have united with Neill Morris, a former colleague at Zappos (who actually hired me on under the affiliate team) whereby we are combining forces and running our own marketing firm, Magic Marketeers, Inc. Currently, I specialize in delivering clients’ objectives and overall business goals through all aspects of interactive media (i.e. affiliate, branding, email, SEM, SERM, social media).

I operate under the name of Scott Schroeder doing business as Magic Marketeers, Inc. (as well as Out House Media, LLC depending on the client and the scope of work).
